The award itself is made of mirrored, beveled glass so that when Rebecca looks at it she sees the reflection of the perfect volunteer.
Milan Sergent’s wife, Rebecca, recently received the 2016 GOVERNOR’S AWARD for the American Advertising Federation District 7 Leadership Conference. Below is an excerpt from the speech honoring her:
“When I think about the qualities and commitment required for the Governor’s Award, I can confidently say that this year’s winner personifies true volunteerism and a passion to help others in the local community, the district, the advertising profession, and non-profit organizations.
This rock star has a career devoted to volunteering in a variety of organizations, already being recognized with several Volunteer of the Year awards, was an Ambassador and Committee Chair for the local Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, the Rotary Club and many more.
She also has a long resume as part of AAF and District 7. Joining AAF some 10 years ago, she immediately began to volunteer for committees and was soon recognized for her commitment to AAF as a potential leader. From there she served in various roles on the board, eventually being named “President of the Year” in District 7’s Club Achievement competition in 2012. With that kind of success, she was appointed to lead in additional roles on the District level, including scholarship and social chair, two terms as regional director and is currently the government relations chair for Mississippi.
