Mahrata LaRock

Name: Mahrata LaRock Name Pronunciation: [Mah-RAH-tah Luh-ROCK] Middle Name: Meducy [Me-DU-cy] Maiden Name: Candlewicke [CAN-dull-wick] Title: Vespercestor (Practicing). Magister of Magic (Nonpracticing). Mahrata is tough, thick-skinned, and dedicated. Magic Affiliations: Sanguinati Sanguinati Coven: Snuffinumbra Education: Mystic Steeples Magister of Sanguinati Magic (Nonpracticing)
Mahrata Quote: “Hmmm, I saw a need for strong leadership to pull those around me out of the pitfalls of ruin and inertia.” Address: Mystic Steeples, Severance, Hoopenfangia. Mystic Steeples is an enormous castle that surrounds Mystic City, forming a seemingly impenetrable barrier, locking the city into another dimension far removed from the rest of Hoopenfangia. Urbanne and his wife, Mahrata, reside in a majestic palace overlooking Mystic Square on the tenth floor inside Mystic Steeples. Date & Place of Birth: With the assistance of a blind midwife, Mahrata was born in her parents’ estate and has a wealthy and powerful bloodline. Height/Weight/Physical Description: She is 5'7'' and slightly overweight with thin eyebrows over bewitching, unnerving eyes, thin lips, an average nose, and a medium complexion. When not wearing her headpiece, she piles her dark hair high over her round and slightly wrinkled face. With fading looks and in need of glasses, she wears chocolate-brow lipstick and heavy eye powder in earth tones. Her movements are economical and leisurely, and she teeters a little. Mahrata’s Sanguinati Crown: When Mahrata addresses the convocation, she often wears her Sanguinati crown that consists of two tail-entwined dragons under her chin with their wings extending up each side of her face into her crown, topped by two tongue-entwined leviathans. The winged dragon is a symbol of the duality of the philosopher’s stone. When the dragons entwine their tails and the leviathans, their tongues, they attain solidity between the dualistic energies of one’s inner being. Citizenship/Ethnic Origin: Hoopenfangia / Caucasian / English Ancestry. Political Beliefs/Affiliations: Traditional Sanguinati.
Hobbies/Recreations: Prying into private affairs. Mahrata Quotes: “Hmmm, life holds no room for humor after Ambergis died and Banzalta became a Wiggiwami. I need to prepare a strong heir to the throne.” Mystic Needles: Also known as needle torture. Those aren’t just hairpins in Mahrata’s hair.
Mahrata Quote: “My magic defenses include Mystic Steeples and my loyal subordinates. Parents' Names & Occupations: Mahrata’s father was Candombram Candlewicke. “I should’ve been there for Ambergis when she became pregnant by Piron DaDovie.”
Spouse or Lover: Urbanne LaRock.
Mahrata Quotes: “I was disposed to trust the LaRocks, and I admire Urbanne’s manly leadership. We have much in common with the direction we want to lead the Sanguinati. Urbanne can’t handle my moods at times.”
“We’ve been married an eternity, it seems, but I keep getting a vision of Urbanne leaving me.” Magic Specialties:
  • Materialization: Magister-level spell. Mahrata likes to “pop in” while others are whispering.
  • Magiscope: Enchanted binoculars. Once, when caught aiming the magiscope out of her bedroom window around midnight, Mahrata claimed she was bird watching.

Mahrata Quotes: “My parents worked hard to provide us a home and place in the Sanguinati. I respect them more now than ever.” “I, haaa, had to grow up faster than most young female witches. I had to take care of my ailing parents, hmmm, so I became a no-nonsense woman.”
Other Family Members: Lineage of LaRock (See chart below.)
  • Daughter: Ambergis LaRock DaDovie (dead).
  • Daughter: Banzalta LaRock Drayn.
  • Brother-in-law: Ulysses LaRock.

Mahrata has a gamut of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren on her husband’s side of the family, including Valor and Lithium McRaven. Friends' Names: Tilta Crumpecker, Teddyus Manoj, Yma Le Breton, Ortho Bisland. Mahrata Quote: “Haaa, most of my immediate family know how I feel about private issues. I am much more reserved with friends.” Vision rewind gloves: Mahrata LaRock uses these enchanted gloves to see what others have previously done or thought. She places her gloved fingers over someone’s eyes, inspecting what their eyes have previously witnessed, and the visions or thoughts appear on the gloves. These gloves were created by the vigilespion for the ministry and are not authorized for sale in stores. Magic Wand: Mahrata uses a wand made of polished cedar, encrusted with diamond stars. It is 16 inches long with phoenix ashes in its core. Occupation/Employer: As a vespercestor, Mahrata is the second-highest rank next to her husband. Mahrata Quotes: “When I walk around Mystic Steeples, I, haaa, check to see if my subordinates are doing as they have been told, if they are, hmmm, doing all they can in use of their talents and powers to advance Mystic Steeples.” Social Class: High. Familiar: Mahrata’s familiar is a purple poodle named Meducy, which is named after Mahrata’s middle name. Community Status: Respected and honored. The Sanguinati treat Mahrata like their queen. Mahrata Quotes: “I fear an uprising from the Sanguinati might mess up my retirement. There are, haaa, so many sneaky snakes.” “I despise it when the Sanguinati come to me for things — handouts — favors.” Job-Related Skills: Instructing, teaching, managing business affairs, and delegating the duties of Mystic Ministry: including the vespercestors, theurgists, stargazers, mesmerists, soothsayers, snake handlers, etc. Tastes:
  • Food and drink: loves food, drink, nothing mood-enhancing, though.
  • Art: Self-portraits and sculptures. Flattering tribute illustrations. Art that features elements of history.
  • Music: Organ, tambourhorns, orchestra, choir, and traditional songs.
  • Literature: Mahrata is a file-pile artist who loves flattering tribute poems.
  • Décor: Lavish décor that features elements of history. She loves kaleidoscopic glass windows and the zodiac. Her colors for interior are pewter and dark colors.
Clothing: Mahrata wears layers of charms and necklaces; some hang to her waist. She likes her sleeves and dress hems full length. Pompous attire most of the time, she prefers white lace trim on the hems of her basic garments. She likes tall hair. Idiosyncrasies: Quick to assume the worst, Mahrata gives frustrated flat smiles. She raises one eyebrow when suspicious or displeased. She nods her head when the Sanguinati behaves the way she wants.
Voice: Making presuppositions, Mahrata speaks in a slow, cautious manner and with a disappointed tone. She sighs in a bored manner: “Hmm…haaa….” She often clears her throat and makes moist, sticky sounds when talking. She likes to put her will in others’ mouths.
