Lithium McRaven

Name: Lithium McRaven Name Pronunciation: [LITH-ee-um Mack-RAY-ven] Maiden Name: DaDovie [Duh-DOE-vee] Title: Sanguinati Apprentice of Magic. Even though it has taken them a very long time, both Lithium and her husband, Houmas, are in their 9th and final Magister levels at Mystic Steeples at the start of Book One, Curse of the McRavens. Magic Affiliation: Sanguinati Sanguinati Coven: Wormwood Philters Education: Mystic Steeples Lithium finished grade school (grades 1-7). Like Houmas, she too became an apprentice of magic at Mystic Steeples late in life. Even though it has taken them a very long time, both Lithium and Houmas are in their 9th and final Magister levels at Mystic Steeples at the start of Book One, Curse of the McRavens
Address: Apprentice apartment 3062+ on the eighth floor over Toadflax Hall in the southwestern side of Mystic Steeples. After Mystic Ministry arrested the McRaven family, Lithium’s new address became Grossatete Sanatorium, located a mile from Mystic Steeples in the city of Severance, Hoopenfangia. Date & Place of Birth: March 2, 1955. Crescent Moon Quarter located in Mystic City. She is 55 yrs. old at the start of Book One in 2010. Lithium Quote: “How old am I? I’m 40 and some odd years.” Height/Weight/Physical Description: 5' 9''. , Lithium is taller than Houmas McRaven, slightly puffy, with a flabby chin. She has floor-length auburn hair, which she usually wears pinned up in the back with lots of height and semi-curls around her face. Her eyebrows curve high over her icy blue eyes, which remain downcast, as she seems to obsess over the evil she sees. With time, Lithium let herself go as if willingly taking on the persona of a much older woman. Her demeanor is as droopy and forlorn as her physical presence. She uses small and economical gestures with a martyred and virtuous public face and show. If she does loosen up enough to laugh, it can be quite unsettling to observers, as Lithium’s eyes often gush tears in her laughter. Habits/Mannerisms: Self-effacing. Despite what anyone tells her otherwise, she shakes her head as if she knows the sad truth. Smokes herbs, drinks potions, doesn't walk under ladders, compulsive cleaner. She paces the floor when worried. Never apologizes, but she’d drop everything to help a friend in need. She’s very passive-aggressive and keeps secrets. She seems to smell evil under every leaf. Citizenship/Ethnic Origin: Hoopenfangia / Caucasian / Sanguinati. The DaDovies have French blood. Magic Specialties: Itch-inducing spells. Memory recall: even though she suppresses her memories. Lithium has the power to drain others emotionally, as well as strip happiness from photos.
Magic Wand: Lithium had a 12-inch willow wand that Headmistress Tilta Crumpecker confiscated when Mystic Ministry put her in Grossatete Sanatorium.
Community Status: Most of the Sanguinati avoid Lithium. She pushes too hard for others to meet her ideals and often ends up pushing them out of her life.
Lithium Quote: “You have it wrong; we’ve done all we can do. It’s the good in me and Houmas that is repelling Valor and Doomsy and the Sanguinati from accepting our teachings, our disciplines, our love for them. My heart is used to being stomped on.”
Political Beliefs/Affiliations: Traditional Sanguinati. If Lithium rebels against convention, it’s personal. She often does not have the energy or motivation to go against the establishment. Parents' Names & Occupations:Father: Piron T. DaDovie.Mother: Genola LaRock DaDovie. (Dead). Lithium Quote: “I don’t have any family. I don’t think they even cared enough to wonder how I turned out. My father abandoned me when I was a baby. My mother died. My grandparents didn’t really care about me. I love too much . . . expected too little out of life, I suppose.” Spouse: Houmas McRaven. Lithium Quotes: “It took a while to fall for Houmas. The Ancients sent him to me. Well, you either love, or you don’t. Houmas was somewhat of a know-it-all at first, but the truth is, I know he’s right most of the time.” “I’ve learned not to expect much. If it weren’t for Houmas McRaven, I don’t know what I’d do. Houmas is my spiritual leader. Like him, I can honestly say I’ve held onto the old paths and not compromised my values the way the Sanguinati has. I will never apologize for following my convictions.” Other Family Members: (The Lineage of LaRock) * See chart below
  • Valor McRaven is her son.
  • Lavon McRaven is her dead son.
  • Doomsy Gloomsy is her adopted daughter.

Lithium Quotes: “Can’t you see I’m very long-suffering? Anybody who knows me will tell you that I try to be the best wife and mother I can be.”
“The simple wish of a dying child tears me up inside because kids are usually so spoiled.” (Lineage of McRaven) * See chart below.

Familiar: Lithium had a lamb named Girly until Houmas “got a hankering for lamb chops.” She often dragged Girly behind her to help with her shopping. Occupation/Employer: The nine-to-five life isn’t for Lithium. Even though this left a strain on Houmas to provide for the McRavens, Lithium didn’t work or want to work. She wanted to stay at home and have children — use them as a remedy to ease the emptiness in her life. Before she married, she did work on and off as a closet organizer for an assisted living facility. Lithium Quote: “I’ve always taken what little I had and made the most of it. I wish I could just let things blow right off my shoulders and not worry so much.” Hobbies/Recreations: Even though she has suppressed ambitions, she longs to be recognized as significantly creative. She enjoys being out in nature and smoking her herbalhookah. Personal Qualities (imagination, taste, etc.): Uncompromising and secretive, Lithium never seems to have enough of anything. Her strong sense of despair, unshared by friends and family, often leaves her feeling abandoned. Emotional codependent on others, she needs everyone to make her happy. She is both selectively compassionate and judgmental. Accommodating, Lithium possesses a compliant, submissive nature toward her husband. Likes: Her Controssua. Houmas McRaven. Her tastes become more Nizzertit, cheap, and lowbrow with time. Various herbalhookah herbs and mood potions. She’s good at organization and keeping things clean and sterile. She loves and collects sad songs, vocals and prefers shades of pink. She needs solitude to dream, to get lost. She prefers anything she discards to stay that way. Lithium Quote: “Oh, I’m funny about having a clean house; it’s very important. There needs to be light. Dark people live in the dark.” Dislikes: Lithium dislikes chastisement, criticism, confinement, know-it-alls, and mysteries that she can’t solve. Liars, cheats, Sorcerers, Noctivatians, dark magic, nocturnal animals. People who think they’re better than she is. Idiosyncrasies: Acts old and decrepit. Makes pitiful faces. She’s paranoid, conniving at times. She often applies lip balm and bites her nails to the nub. Reality can often become distorted in her wickedness-hunting eyes. Manner of Speaking: In an average feminine voice that is icy at times, Lithium often speaks in rhetorical questions, which suppress pain and bitterness. Lithium Quote: “Listen: We are just following what we feel the Ancients have called us to do. That’s all I can say. You can take it up with the Ancients. Read the Controssua for yourself.”
